ABOUT: THE MISSION
Sunhee's core mission is driven by a passion for food and community, rooted in a Korean-American history, culture and identity we believe can be shared with all people regardless of race, ethnicity or nationality. Through social entrepreneurship, Sunhee's hopes to create a safe space for cultural learning and innovative projects, all threaded together by food. Sunhee's mission can be broken down into the following elements: positive food culture, community engagement, and immigrant/refugee empowerment.
Positive Food Culture
Preserve Korean food tradition and revitalize authentic methods of production that invest into what we eat. Promote healthy living and growth of the local, "real food" movement, connecting directly with farmers and food sources when possible.
Community Engagement
Engage with staff, customers and the surrounding community through professional development and educational opportunities. Partner with local businesses and organizations to serve the people of Troy and greater Capital District on a daily and programmatic basis.
Immigrant and
Refugee Empowerment
Recognize the value of diverse immigrant/refugees experiences as well as the challenges of resettling in a new community. Partner with the local refugee resettlement agency to build a strong workforce and provide other in-house services including English classes, resume development, and job counseling.
